Reflection
doing something different this month - talking about my selections at the same time as updating the site! makes a little more sense to me.
i'm delighted to say that the musical rut i was in last month has been resolved! i've been listening to a lot more radio, and i've actively been asking friends for recommendations, their favourite songs, and - this is i think the biggest change - listening to full albums rather than playlists and individual songs. i used to listen to music this way as a teen, and i didn't realize how much i enjoy it!
my choices for july, you'll notice, skew toward metal quite a lot. my favourite show on RTRFM is critical mass, their weekly metal show (wednesday nights from 9pm, gst +8, but they keep each show up to stream anytime for up to four weeks). i've been listening to that a LOT more recently, and it's influenced my other tastes quite a lot too! so you'll definitely hear some good chunky guitars, some screaming, and a HELL of a lot of overdrive.
a note about drugs you do by vernon jane: this song makes me feel like i've just gotten punched in the gut REALLY hard. i'm not exaggerating, i genuinely feel physically like that. it's so good. i love a good painful song.
